Organizers' Kit for a New Latin America Policy!

The Latin America Solidarity Coalition (LASC), of which the Nicaragua Network is an active member, is inaugurating a new campaign for use by grassroots activists with our ideas for a more positive US policy toward our neighbors to the South and for a moral and sustainable US foreign policy toward Latin America.

The LASC Coordinating Committee has prepared talking points for use by local activists to educate their communities and influence members of Congress. With a new administration installed in Washington, DC, it is time for progressive activists to demand a new foreign policy toward Latin American and the Caribbean.

The attached documents comprise an Organizer's Kit for the LASC's “Toward a New US Latin America Foreign Policy” campaign.

Included are:
1. lasc-congressional-letter.doc A letter for individuals to sign to their two Senators and Representative
2. lasc-talking-points.pdf The six page “LASC Talking Points” for the 11 foreign policy changes mentioned in the letter
3. lasc-congress-list-2.pdf A list of names of Representatives and Senators by State and how to address the envelope (at the bottom) Use this list for gatherings where there are folks from several congressional districts!

Add blank envelopes and 42 cent stamps and you have all you need to set up a table at an event in your community or school. The goal is to send thousands of letters to Congress so our elected representatives know there is a constituency that wants our relations with our neighbors to be based on peace and respect, not threats and exploitation.

Please send reports on how many letters you've gotten out from your community to: info@lasolidarity.org.
